Invitation to Participate
in a National
Urban Forestry Storm Preparedness Survey
March
17, 2011
Dear all,
We’re sharing an
important invitation from our President, Jack McCabe. Your participation
is valuable!
Best,
Sonya
Dear colleague,
Storms over the urban forest
have strengthened in intensity and numbers, and preparing for storms is
always difficult. This may be an opportune time for many who are
experiencing storm related challenges to consider developing or fine
tuning their storm response management plans and practices.
The
Forest Service National Urban and Community Forest Advisory Council
(NUCFAC) has awarded a non-profit, urban forestry organization, Friends
of Hawaii’s Urban Forest DBA Smart Trees Pacific, with a grant to develop
an Urban Forestry Emergency Operations Planning Toolkit for Storm
Response.
One of the components of the grant was the development of a survey which
will allow the team to gain an understanding of the essential practices,
training and experiences of urban forestry storm responders. The end
result will be a tool kit for the urban forestry industry when planning
for emergencies or disasters, such as a hurricane, tsunami, wind, or an
ice storm, which result in vegetative debris.
I am personally asking you to support this project by taking the Urban
Forestry Storm Preparedness Survey. Click this link or cut and
paste the link into the browser https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/nucfac-a2
to gain access. The survey is active now and will close on April
14, 2011. There are 27 questions and the survey should
take between 15 and 20 minutes.
If
you know of any others who may be knowledgeable and have experience in
disasters and storm events, please forward this invitation to them. The
survey is active now and will close on April 14, 2011.
If
you would like more information about the organization or the survey go
to www.smarttreespacific.org
or contact Teresa Trueman-Madriaga at ttm@hawaii.rr.com or by phone at
808-220-0966.
If
you received more than one invitation to take the survey please ignore
the duplication.
Thank you,
Jack
